About Us

Nestled within the picturesque rural landscape of East Ferris, encompassing the charming villages of Astorville and Corbeil, lies a vibrant community with a rich tapestry of amenities. Just a stone’s throw away, only 20 kilometers east of North Bay, Ontario, East Ferris offers a tranquil retreat along the scenic shores of Trout Lake and Lake Nosbonsing, while still providing convenient access to urban conveniences.

With a population exceeding 4,800 and experiencing consistent growth, East Ferris stands as a testament to its residents’ spirit and the allure of its communal bonds. Among its cherished institutions is the Nosbonsing Curling Club, an integral fixture in the community’s fabric.

Since its inception in 1982, the Curling Club has been a hub for sportsmanship and camaraderie, initially utilizing the arena ice pad for its activities. As interest in the sport burgeoned, a group of dedicated locals provided vital support by guaranteeing loans for the construction of a dedicated curling rink, boasting two sheets of pristine curling ice. This facility also features a basement area, serving as a versatile locker room with kitchen facilities for club and community events. As a municipally owned entity, the club shares infrastructure with the arena and community center, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of East Ferris’ recreational landscape.

Beyond its primary role as a winter retreat for curling enthusiasts, the club plays a pivotal role throughout the year, hosting a myriad of recreational and community events. Its diverse membership encompasses various leagues, catering to youth, men, women, mixed teams, and daytime enthusiasts alike. Embracing an inclusive ethos, the club fosters a vibrant social atmosphere, with events spanning the East Ferris Winter Carnival and the entire winter season.

Moreover, the club extends its reach by offering facility rentals to both community and private groups, promoting curling as an integral component of an active lifestyle.

Operated as a non-profit organization, the Nosbonsing Curling Club owes its success to the unwavering dedication of its volunteer members, who tirelessly uphold its mission of fostering community, camaraderie, and the love of curling.
